SANTA ANA (AP) — A Southern California man has been convicted of breaking into homes of five girls and women and fondling them as they slept.
An Orange County jury on Thursday found 49-year-old Robert Jacobo Reyes guilty of forcible lewd act on a child, residential burglary and other counts.
Prosecutors said Reyes snuck into homes in his Santa Ana neighborhood, targeting victims who ranged in age from 7 to 22. In all the cases, the victims woke up screaming, some pushing and kicking Reyes before he fled.
The victims could not identify Reyes because it was dark, but authorities said they were able to link him to DNA and fingerprint evidence.
Reyes had previously submitted a sample of his DNA when he was convicted in 2003 of burglary and deported to Mexico.
